Near West Side Crash Involving CTA Bus, Van Injures 12

CHICAGO — Twelve people were injured when a van ran a red light and hit a CTA bus on the Near West Side Tuesday afternoon, an agency official said.

The No. 20 bus was traveling west on Madison Street and was going through the Ashland Avenue intersection when a van ran a red light about 1:43 p.m., according to preliminary information from the CTA.

Nine people on the bus were taken to area hospitals with injuries that weren't life-threatening. Three people on the bus declined medical treatment.

No one in the van was injured.
