Police Questioning 'Person of Interest' After Man Shot Dead in Gage Park

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot during a fight in Gage Park Sunday.

The shooting happened about 1 a.m. in the 3000 block of West 53rd Place, where the victim was shot multiple times during a physical fight with a "known offender," said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

Joshua Martinez, 20, of the 4900 block of South Karlov Avenue in Archer Heights, was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:26 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said the shooting appeared to be gang-related, and officers are questioning a person of interest.
