CHICAGO — A teenage girl was killed in a shooting in the Woodlawn neighborhood Friday afternoon, officials said. Four other people were shot as well, police said.

The girl, who police said was 17, was shot in the 6400 block of South Eberhart Avenue about 3:30 p.m., fire officials said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said she was 19, and identified her as Gakirah Barnes.

She was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:43 p.m., the Medical Examiner's Office said.

A 33-year-old man was also wounded in the incident. He was taken in stable condition to Jackson Park Hospital, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a Fire Department spokesman.

Later, in the 4700 block of South Wabash Avenue, paramedics found a man who apparently drove from the scene of the shooting. He was taken in stable condition to Mercy Hospital, Hernandez said.

Police confirmed the shooting, but could not provide any more information.

At 5:05 p.m., in the 8400 block of South Burnham Avenue, two people were shot, police said. A 20-year-old woman was shot in the chest and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. A 17-year-old boy shot in the back. He was taken in stable condition to South Shore Hospital.

Area Central detectives are investigating, police said.
