CHICAGO — Two police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a man rear-ended their squad car in Austin Monday night.

The officers were stopped at a red light in the 5400 block of West Chicago Avenue around 11 p.m. when the man's pickup truck hit them from behind, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The force of the crash pushed the squad car into another car, Sullivan said.

The officers were taken to local hospitals for treatment, and charges are pending against the driver of the pickup, Sullivan said.
