CHICAGO — This summer, hungry foodies and their families can find their favorite food trucks all parked together on the South Side.
Scheduled for June 7, the Chicago Food Truck Fest will bring together up to 20 of the city's best mobile restaurants for an afternoon of family-friendly gourmet food sampling outside of U.S. Cellular Field.
"With the laws more favorable for food trucks, we decided to combine this with music and games for the family," said organizer Alec Blackshire.
Already confirmed for the event are Gino's Steaks Truck, Chicago Pizza Boss, Cheesies, Taquero Fusion and The Fat Shallot. Blackshire said the roster will be updated on the official event website as soon as other food trucks are confirmed. A live music schedule is also forthcoming.
Admission is $10, which does not include the price of food tickets or beer and wine sales. VIP tickets cost $25 and include early access into the festival, plus two drink tickets and free parking. Tickets are available online.
Kids 12 and under are free.
One dollar from every ticket sold will benefit Feed the Children, a charity that helps hungry Americans secure food through a variety of distribution programs.
The Chicago Food Truck Festival is scheduled to run from noon-9 p.m.
