ROGERS PARK — A Loyola University student was robbed of his wallet after a pair of thieves thumped him over the head with a handgun earlier this week, police said.
But the victim didn't report the Monday robbery until Wednesday, said Thomas Murray, Loyola's chief of police.
Murray said in a message to students and faculty that the student was walking about 8 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of West Albion Avenue when two people, one of whom brandished a gun, stole the victim's wallet.
"The victim was struck over the head with the handgun and is currently recovering," Murray said.
Murray encouraged anyone with information about the attack to call 911.
He also encouraged students to walk or jog with a friend whenever possible and to stay aware of their surroundings.
