CHICAGO — A 19-month-old girl who went missing from Bronzeville Sunday was found dead in Riverdale, authorities said, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Authorities found the toddler's body Sunday in the 14000 block of South Normal Avenue in south suburban Riverdale, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Amerah Roberson, 19 months, was pronounced dead on the scene at 7 p.m. The medical examiner ruled Amerah's case a homicide. Her cause of death was listed as subdural hematoma, closed head injuries and assault.

Chicago police said they were working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and Riverdale Police Department. Police were not offering updates as of Monday night.

Amerah's mother told police she walked away from her daughter briefly around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue, cops said. When the mother returned, she realized Amerah was missing and called police.

Chicago detectives were canvassing the Bronzeville neighborhood Monday in search of Amerah.

No further details were immediately available.
