CHICAGO — The man found shot to death in a burning building Friday had been identified.

Davy Easterling, 31, of the 8100 block of South Vernon Avenue, was found after crews doused a small fire in the 8300 block of South Baker Avenue Friday morning.

An autopsy later determined Easterling died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Firefighters were called to the 8300 block of South Baker Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. to fight a blaze on the first floor of a 2½-story home, according to Larry Langford, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

After dousing those flames, firefighters searching the home found a dead man believed at first to be in his 50s, Langford said.
