CHICAGO — Eight people, including three children, were sent to the hospital after a crash in Fuller Park that may have been alcohol-related, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 1:52 a.m. Monday when a 29-year-old woman driving a van westbound on 43rd Street missed a traffic light and hit a car traveling north on LaSalle Street, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

She and the 28-year-old driver of the sedan were sent to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in serious condition, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a fire department spokesman.

Three children were sent to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition while three adults were taken to Stroger Hospital, two in critical condition.

It is unclear which car the children were in.
