PORTAGE PARK — A 19-year-old man was killed in Portage Park Monday night, one of two teenagers shot overnight.

About 10:30 p.m., the 19-year-old man was riding in a vehicle in the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when he was shot by the vehicle's driver and an acquaintance who was also riding in the car, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The man, who had been shot in his left arm and abdomen, then got out of the vehicle and walked to the 5000 block of West Cullom Avenue, where he lived, officials said.

Emergency responders rushed the man to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was identified as Alex Anderson, 19, according to medical examiners.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Tuesday evening.

Another teen was listed in critical condition after a shooting Monday night in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.

About 8:15 p.m. Monday, an 18-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 2300 block of South Hoyne Avenue when another car pulled alongside the vehicle, Alfaro said.

Someone inside the car opened fire, hitting the 18-year-old man in his arm and stomach, police said.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of early Tuesday morning.
