CHICAGO — Chicago has some great doughnuts, including America's best, says The Daily Meal.
Four Chicago shops made the food website's "America's 25 Best Donuts" list, including The Doughnut Vault at 401 N. Franklin St. in River North, where the plain glazed took the top prize.
"A simple, sugary glaze should be all you need to change your opinion of cake donuts forever," the site wrote about the doughnut.
The chocolate glazed doughnuts from The Loop's Do-Rite Donuts and Coffee, 50 W. Randolph, comes in at 13th place.
The no-frills approach also works for Chatham's Dat Donut, 8251 S. Cottage Grove, which serves its own plain glazed doughnut that came in at 16th place.
Lakeview's Dinkel's Bakery, 3329 N. Lincoln Ave., came in at 24th place with its chocolate cake doughnut.
