RIVER NORTH — The River North skyline got a new star Tuesday — a Michelin star, to be exact, and it landed at the restaurant inside the Peninsula Hotel.

The Lobby at 108 E. Superior St. was the only new addition in the neighborhood to Michelin's coveted 2013 restaurant ratings, which named a total of 25 Chicago restaurants among the best in the nation.

Jisoo Chon, director of food and beverage for The Peninsula Chicago and its four restaurants, which include The Lobby, Shanghai Terrace, Pierrot Gourmet and the Terrace, said the hotel was "thrilled" to earn its first one-star designation.

"The team at The Lobby prides itself in a tradition steeped in excellence and a steadfast commitment to outstanding service," Chon said. "We strive to make sure that our guests always leave with a memorable experience and are grateful for the honor."

Also on the list out of River North was Graham Elliot at 217 W. Huron St., which received an additional star for the first time this year.

But foodies dreaming of two-star dining at Graham Elliot will have to act fast — the restaurateur announced last week that his namesake restaurant will close after New Year's Eve.

The celebrity chef said a new restaurant concept was in the works to replace Graham Elliot.

In August, Elliot also shuttered Grahamwich on State Street.
