THE LOOP — The Millennium Park ice rink is set to reopen for its 13th season, and officials announced the rink will offer free skating lessons during the weekends this year.
The ice rink, on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison streets, will officially reopen Nov. 15 and stay open through March 9.
From Fridays to Sundays, the rink will offer its "Winter Workouts," a free hour of ice-skating lessons before the rink officially opens.
The lessons will be broken up into two, 30-minute "beginner" classes with a capacity of 30 people per class, said Cindy Gatziolis, a city spokeswoman. The classes will be first come, first served, Gatziolis said.
During the week, the ice rink opens at noon and closes at 8 p.m. During the weekend, the rink opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m., except for Sundays.

Skating is free. Skate rentals are $10.
