CHICAGO — A woman and a man were shot in separate daytime shootings on the South Side on Monday, police said.

The shootings occurred hours after a morning shooting in the 8300 block of South Baltimore Avenue in which a man identified as Olawale Giwa was killed.

The latest shooting occurred in Greater Grand Crossing about 5:20 p.m. in the 7500 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

A 23-year-old man took a bullet to his leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition.

In a separate shooting in the South Chicago neighborhood, a 22-year-old woman was shot about 2 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Oglesby Avenue, Zala said.

No additional information was available for that shooting, which occurred about 1.5 miles away from where Giwa was shot dead.
