AVALON PARK — One man was killed and three other people were wounded in shootings since Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

A 35-year-old man died Wednesday night after being shot in Avalon Park. The man was shot repeatedly in his chest just after 8 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Avalon Avenue, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The man was identified as Dwan Long, of the 8200 block of South Langley, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. After he was shot, Long was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead about 9 p.m.

About 11 p.m., a man was hospitalized after a shooting in West Englewood.

The 21-year-old man was walking in the 6400 block of South Hoyne Avenue when another man walked up to him and asked a question about drugs, Greer said. The man then pulled out a gun and shot the 21-year-old in his neck.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, Greer said.

Wednesday afternoon, a man was shot in a hair salon in Bronzeville, police said.

About 2:40 p.m., a 25-year-old man was in a hair salon in the 3900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when a woman walked up to him and shot him in both of his legs.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.

Three hours later, a teenager was shot by a gunman riding a bicycle in McKinley Park.

An 18-year-old man was standing in the street in the 3700 block of South Honore Street when two men rode by on bicycles. One of the men pulled a gun and shot the teen, Greer said, hitting him in the upper left side of his chest.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. No one was in custody in connection with any of the shootings as of early Thursday, authorities said.
