WOODLAWN — Two people were hospitalized following separate shootings on the South Side early Saturday morning, authorities said.

About 3:30 a.m., a man was wounded in a shooting in West Woodlawn, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

A 36-year-old man was standing on the corner of the 6700 block of South Rhodes Avenue when he heard shots and then felt pain. The man was shot in his left thigh and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Estrada said.

About two hours earlier, a woman was taken to the hospital after a shooting in the city's South Shore neighborhood.

A 39-year-old woman was shot in her chest about 1:20 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where her condition stabilized.

Police could not immediately provide details surrounding the shooting.
