LINCOLN SQUARE — There will be October baseball in Chicago this year ... at least at the Little League level.

The Welles Park Parent Association is partnering with Winnemac Park and Amundsen High School to offer a new fall baseball program.

The season is scheduled to begin Sept. 7 and conclude the weekend of Oct. 26 with playoff rounds. Games will be held at Winnemac Park, 5101 N. Leavitt St., on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Youngsters aged 7 to 12 are eligible for the new league, which will be split into three divisions: 8 and under, 10 and under, and 12 and under. Cost is $100 per player.

Individual players or complete/partial teams can register for the league. No full-time travel teams will be accepted.

Online registration is open through Aug. 8. Questions can be emailed to fallball@wppabaseball.com.
