CHICAGO — A southbound Metra Electric train was delayed Tuesday afternoon after "bumping" a man in South Shore, officials said.

The man was not paying attention and got too close to the tracks about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of East 71st Street and South Chappel Avenue, fire officials said.

The train "bumped" the man as it went by, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said.

The Metra train was delayed 40 minutes on its way to 93rd Street. Currently on its return trip to Chicago, the train is delayed about 30 minutes, said a Metra spokeswoman.
