DMK Taking Over Kingfisher Restaurant Space in Andersonville

ANDERSONVILLE — DMK Restaurants is the new tenant rumored for weeks to be moving into the former Kingfisher Restaurant space in Andersonville at 5721 N. Clark St.

Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) made the announcement on Twitter Thursday night after breaking the news at the Andersonville Honors Gala, a celebration honoring businesses in the neighborhood.

DMK, founded in 2009 by David Morton and Michael Kornick, owns the popular DMK Burger Bar in Lakeview, another restaurant called Fish Bar next door to the burger joint and a cocktail bar/restaurant in West Town, Ada Street Restaurant. DMK Burger Bar also has a location in west suburban Lombard.

The former Kingfisher space occupies nearly 3,700 square feet and has on-site parking. DMK has not decided yet on a restaurant concept for its new Andersonville location, according to Osterman. DMK was not immediately reachable for comment, and it was not immediately clear when the new restaurant will open.

Osterman's office had been keeping DMK's identity a secret in lieu of an official announcement, and would only say the new tenant was a "well-known restaurateur." The leasing agent handling the transaction was also mum, but said "It's definitely a group that knows what they're doing."
