CHICAGO — Two men were injured Monday in separate shootings on the city's South and West sides, police said.

About 2:40 p.m., police were called to a home in the 6500 block of South Maplewood Avenue in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood. Police found a 31-year-old man in the laundry room with a gunshot wound in his chest, according to Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Gaines said the man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. Police said Tuesday morning no other information was available.

About 6 p.m. Monday evening, another man was shot on the Near West Side.

A 19-year-old man was walking in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street when a group of four men walked up to him from behind, Gaines said. One member of the group opened fire, hitting the teen in the arm.

The 19-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Gaines said.

No one is currently in custody for either shooting, Gaines said.
