Pleasant House Bakery's Second Location a Mystery

By Casey Cora | April 2, 2013 6:26am

BRIDGEPORT — Behold the Royal Pie.

The baked specialty — a variety of meats and vegetables nestled inside a delectable flaky crust — has been wholly embraced by legions of guests at Pleasant House Bakery, 964 W. 31st St.

But it might not be the South Side’s secret anymore.

The team behind the Pleasant House — husband and wife Art and Chelsea Jackson and Pleasant Farms director Morgan Kalberloh — have announced plans to open a new restaurant somewhere in the city.

Rather than reveal the location of their next endeavor, they’re dropping clues across social media and turning the guessing game into a contest, the winner of which gets a free dinner.

The contest was announced in the restaurant’s newsletter with the following message:

As fans of Agatha Christie, Encyclopedia Brown, and even J. B. Fletcher, we love a good mystery. In the coming days we will be offering clues that will help unveil our new Pleasant House location. Think you know where we’ll be? Email us photos of your evidence at pleasanthousebakery@gmail.com.

All correct answers will be entered into a drawing for a dinner for two at the new location, which is expected to open “this spring,” according to the newsletter.

Don’t feel like making the trek to Bridgeport? Royal Pies are available direct to your door via Artizone and, in a newly announced deal, Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks.
