Sox to Offer Italian Beef/Sausage/Pork Chop/Bacon Sandwich

CHICAGO — Peanuts and Cracker Jacks it ain't.

The Chicago White Sox have introduced a slew of new menu items at U.S. Cellular Field, including the monstrous Winning Ugly Grand Slam sandwich.

Named in honor of the 1983 “winning ugly” squad, the sandwich consists of Italian beef, an Italian sausage patty and a pork chop topped with bacon and covered with giardiniera, sautéed onions and peppers, all stuffed into an eight-inch muffalatta bread roll.

Wash it down with the stadium’s new beer selections, which the team says will be available in select locations throughout the park.

The beers include Henry Weinhards, Batch19, Third Shift, Blue Moon Agave Blonde Ale, Two Brothers Ebel’s Weiss and Leinenkugel's Canoe Paddler.

Also new this year at the Cell will be two non-boozy offerings — Apple Juice and milk, available in sections 130 and 529.

But back to that food.

Hungry fans can find new items in various spots in the 100 and 500 level concession stands and in the ballpark’s Club Level, Diamond Suite or Stadium Club experience package. Here’s a rundown of the new offerings:

Bull’s BBQ: Greg Luzinski of the 1983 club reportedly created and named this BBQ pork sandwich, available at two locations the ballpark, sections 151 and 531.

Comiskey Burger: Take the concept of the Chicago dog and make it a burger. Now go ahead and make it a double or triple — topped with “Chitown Pico”, made with sport peppers, green relish, diced tomato and onions and topped with celery salt — and you’ve got the Comiskey burger, available at two Burger Barn locations in sections 113 and 529.

Walking Taco: You get a box full of Fritos topped with stadium nacho cheese and chili — and a fork to take it all down. Available in sections 110, 164 and 544.

Meatball Sandwich: The humble meatball sandwich will be served on a roll and topped with marinara and parmesan cheese. Available in sections 121 and 522.  

Winning Ugly Grand Slam:  In honor of the 1983 White Sox, a grand slam of Italian beef, Italian sausage patty, pork chop and bacon covered with giardiniera, sautéed onions and peppers on eight inch muffalatta bread. Available at the Club Level.

Pepper-Glazed Goat Cheese Spread: A warm sweet and spicy goat cheese dip, served with pita chips and toasted baguette slices. Available in Diamond Suites and Stadium Club.

South Side Double Steakburger: A pair of gourmet steakburgers topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and secret sauce on a brioche bun. Available in the Club Level.

Tuna, Chicken and Egg Salad Sandwich Trio: Served like a deli tray and accompanied by caraway rye, pumpernickel and assorted rolls. Available in the Diamond Suites.

Rip and Dip: Four cheese garlic bread served hot with marinara and ranch dipping sauces. Available in the Club Level and Stadium Club.

Eleven City Diner Bloody Mary: A local favorite makes a debut at U.S. Cellular Field as this signature drink is added to the line-up.
