Woman Killed in Bronzeville Fire

CHICAGO — A fire in a South Side home left one person dead Sunday morning

The fire, in the 4100 block of South Berkley Avenue, began around 8:15 a.m. Fire officials are investigation the blaze at the two-story home.

Killed in the blaze was Vershonda Marshall, 41, of the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. She was pronounced dead at 8:58 a.m.

The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital. No more information was available.
