CHICAGO — Police have issued a warning following a spike in armed Red Line robberies over the last two months.

According to authorities, several black men have been targeting commuters visibly using their cell phones or other electronic devices on the Red Line, between 55th and 95th.

The suspected offenders range from 15-22 years old. They wear dark clothing and sport either short hair or dreadlocks, a police statement said.

Police advise commuters to avoid using electronic devices on the train, platforms or bus stops. If approached by one of these men, remain calm and take note of unique physical characteristics such as scars, acne or a limp.

Anyone with information is urged to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
