AUBURN GRESHAM — A man died early Monday after he crashed his speeding car into a viaduct in the city's Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said.

Jeffrey Oakley, 51, struck a viaduct while he was driving in the 8700 block of South Vincennes Avenue about 1:50 a.m. Monday, according to police spokeswoman Officer Laura Kubiak.

Oakley, a resident of the 9600 block of South Genoa Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead about 2:45 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Kubiak said the man was the only person in the car and that witnesses told police he was traveling at high speeds when he struck the viaduct.
