RAVENSWOOD — Commuters are advised to avoid the intersection of Montrose and Ravenswood avenues, which will be closed through Friday while steel is installed for a new Metra bridge at the juncture.

According to an announcement from the office of Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th), southbound Ravenswood Avenue between Montrose and Berteau avenues will also be closed through 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Montrose bridge is expected to experience partial closures Feb. 4 to Feb. 26.

The construction is part of a $225 million improvement of the Metra/Union Pacific North Line. The project includes the replacement of 11 bridges, installation of new track and a new Ravenswood station at Lawrence Avenue.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed in 2019.
