Kristin Cavallari Doesn't Want Son with Bears' Jay Cutler Playing Football

THE LOOP — In light of the concussion this season that sidelined her fiancé, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, former reality star Kristin Cavallari said she hopes her 5-month-old son Camden Cutler won't follow in his father's football footsteps.

"I will try to steer Cam in a different direction, maybe a sport that isn't so aggressive," Cavallari told DNAinfo.com Chicago Monday in Pioneer Court, where she was posing for Gillette's "Kiss & Tell" U.S. tour, which promotes clean-shaven faces. "Maybe baseball — something where he doesn't have to get hit."

But Cavallari said that baby Camden already takes after papa Cutler, and that she knows she might not be able to keep her child from picking up a pigskin down the line.

"At the end of the day, I think if he wants to play football, I don't know if I'm gonna have too much control over it," Cavallari said. "You know, how can your dad be a football player and you tell them that they can't do it?"

Indeed, the Bears quarterback in November said on ESPN 1000 that he would "absolutely" allow his son to play when the boy got older.

"There is a lot of other things I worry about for Cam other than football," Cutler said. "I have diabetes, our food situation in America with preservatives and everything else we put into it. That's something I worry about a lot more than him getting concussions playing football."

Cavallari's comments came after President Barack Obama said in an interview Sunday that if he had a son, "I'd have to think long and hard before I let him play football," given its violent nature and the prevalence of player concussions.

In addition to the concussion he had this season, forcing him to miss one game, Cutler also suffered from a concussion in the 2010 season. There are also reports he suffered concussions when he played with the Denver Broncos and in college.

A few current and former NFL players have recently said they do not want their sons playing football.

Jets linebacker Bart Scott told the New York Daily News he wouldn't want his 7-year-old son B.J. suiting up. Said Scott: "I play football so he won't have to. With what's going on, I don't know if it's really worth it."

And Troy Aikman told HBO's Bryant Gumbel, "If I had a 10-year-old boy, I don't know that I'd be real inclined to encourage him to go play football, in light of what we are learning from head injury." And Terry Bradshaw told Jay Leno that "if I had a son today, I would not let him play football."

"The fear of them getting head injuries — and they're out there — it's just too great for me," Bradshaw said.

Cavallari, former star of the MTV reality shows "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" and "The Hills," posed for photos where she mock-shaved a male model for Gillette. The blonde beauty donned a white Elizabeth and James blazer, an LnA top, cropped black Vince pants with zippered pockets and black Liberta pumps from her new line, a collaboration with Chinese Laundry.

Cavallari also let slip that she prefers a clean-shaven face on her grizzly soon-to-be-husband, but refused to answer hypotheticals about other celebs she'd like to see go smooth.

"I don't really want to answer that, I mean, why am I gonna talk about another guy?" Cavallari said. She did describe her first kiss in sixth grade, when she lived in Chicago, calling it "the most disgusting thing in the entire world," after her over-eager partner "shoved his tongue in my mouth."

Cavallari said she and Cutler might host a Super Bowl party at their swanky downtown rental, but that they haven't thought as far ahead as Valentine's Day.

"I'm sure I'll probably end up cooking and doing something sweet," Cavallari said. "With the baby it's not as easy to kind of just randomly go anywhere for a few days, so I'm sure we'll be at home. We'll be parents that night as well so it'll probably be something sweet and simple."

When they do go out, though, Cavallari said the couple loves Chicago Cut Steakhouse and the Pump Room.

The serial entrepreneur has a new jewelry collection launching just before Valentine's Day, and said she'd be flying to Los Angeles next week to promote it.
