UPTOWN — A reputed gang member was shot three times Thursday evening by an unidentified gunman who allegedly chased him down Wilson Avenue before fleeing in a white sedan, police said.
The 24-year-old victim, identified by officers and neighbors as an area gang member, ran into a liquor store in the 1200 block of West Wilson Avenue and waited before paramedics arrived and took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital with gunshot wounds to his left wrist, left hip and left shin, police said. He was listed in good condition.
The gunman, who wore a black knit hat, approached the alleged Black P Stone member and began firing at him about 5:45 p.m. near Wilson and North Malden avenues, police said. The victim ran west on Wilson, with the gunman in pursuit and still firing at him, before the shooter stopped and fled in a white four-door sedan, police said.
The shooting comes exactly one month after another gang-related shooting about two blocks east that left a 37-year-old man dead and injured another man, 21, across the street from Truman College.
No one is in custody in Thursday's attack.
