FORT GREENE — A man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for shooting at three police officers in an unmarked car, prosecutors said.

Quashawn Smith, 25, of Fort Greene was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted murder for the October 2015 shooting, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.

Investigators said Smith shot at the front of the unmarked police car as it was patrolling the 88th Precinct and was wounded by return fire from the officers inside the vehicle. He was arrested after seeking treatment at Beth Israel Hospital the next day, prosecutors said.

No members of the NYPD were injured in the shooting, police said at the time, and a .45-caliber handgun was recovered by police after the shoot-out.

Smith was sentenced to 11 years in prison and five years post-release supervision, prosecutors said.

Two other men were taken into custody shortly after the incident, DNAinfo New York previously reported. One, Davon Morrison, also of Fort Greene, has also pleaded guilty to charges against him stemming from the shooting and is due to be sentenced on June 12, court records show.

The third man was questioned in the case, but released without arrest, the DA's office said.
