BROOKLYN — Three men were arrested after a shootout with plainclothes police in Fort Greene Wednesday night, police said.

The men were fighting with each other near Park Avenue and North Portland Avenue about 10:43 p.m. when three plainclothes police in an unmarked car passed them and doubled back, according to the NYPD.

As the car turned to approach them, two of the men opened fire, hitting the vehicle, but missing the officers inside, police said.

Police returned fire as the three men took off running, according to authorities.

One of the men, 23, was found at Beth Israel hospital with a gunshot wound to his left leg, police said. It was not immediately clear if he had been injured by one of the officers' bullets.

The two other men were arrested Thursday morning and the trio was awaiting formal charges, police said.
