Barclays Center Locks Doors After Mob Tries to Force Entry, Officials Say

By Trevor Kapp | October 27, 2017 8:47am

BROOKLYN — Chaos erupted outside the Barclays Center on Thursday night after a mob of people tried to force their way into the arena for a hip-hop concert, arena officials said.

The Power 105.1 Powerhouse Show, featuring The Weeknd and French Montana, was sold out, but a crowd tried to bumrush the doors, prompting security to not let anyone in, Barclays Center spokeswoman Mandy Gutmann said in a statement.

"In order to provide a safe and secure environment for all guests, Barclays Center security worked with the New York Police Department to disperse the crowd," Gutmann said in a statement. "The doors were closed at this time, and no further entry was permitted into the event.

"For the ticket holders whose tickets were not scanned, refunds will be available at the point of purchase.”

The NYPD said no arrests were made and no injuries were reported.
