DUMBO — A new middle school slated for a waterfront development will include a pre-kindergarten program when the space opens to students for the 2017 school year.
The school will welcome 72 children to the pre-K program in addition to 333 middle schoolers at the 60 Water St. development, according to the Department of Education.
The middle school will be housed in a 45,000-square-foot space on the second floor of the Two Trees Management development.
It has not yet been determined if the pre-K will share the second floor space or be located in a different part of the development, according to Two Trees officials.
Two Trees donated the space to the city for use as a school, officials said.
60 Water St., a 17-story luxury apartment building with 290 residential units, includes an underground parking garage and a rooftop deck designed by High Line architects James Corner Field Operations.
The building, designed by LEESER Architecture, is scheduled for completion this year.
