The annual Rubber Duckie Derby is part of a larger event that takes place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Owner Jack Kelly welcomed patrons for the first time Tuesday to his bar at 10910 S. Western Ave.

McEldowney, a Beverly native, was the first Chicago Rose to win the international title in 29 years.

Jim Cornelison sang the national anthem at the event that raised money for Hockey On Your Block.

The charity homebuilders left messages for the new homeowners on the studs and structural walls.

Michael Murphy, 56, of Beverly died Sunday after attending the event at Mount Carmel High School.  

Lisa Sarcinella has spent the past 16 years working at the Catholic elementary school in Beverly.

"Being a parish priest, I always felt that was the best job there could be," Malloy said.

Shannon Reilly Zofkie will lead the South Side Irish Parade and is the latest to win a tiara and sash.

The party at St. Barnabas Parish on Friday night raises money for pediatric brain tumor research.

The fundraiser helps Beverly's A New Direction, which works with families affected by domestic violence.

"You Are My Neighbor" will feature speakers along with music, poetry and testaments from refugees.

The fundraiser comes ahead the annual "Get Behind the Vest" pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.-noon Sunday.

Maureen Gainer Reilly said she spent just $2,500 to renovate her kitchen with IKEA cabinets & new paint.
