National Veterans Art Museum

"The idea was do something a little different from the normal skull-and-crossbones," its founder said.

The tour will open up six buildings across Portage Park and Old Irving Park Saturday and Sunday.

The famed author of "Slaughterhouse-Five" was also a veteran of World War II and an accomplished artist.

The exhibit will feature two series of paintings by George Klauba, a veteran of the Navy.

Veterans will give tours of "Above and Beyond" featuring  58,000 dog tags  Saturday and Sunday.

The exhibit, "Above and Beyond," will be unveiled Saturday at the Harold Washington Library Center. 

The exhibit by Air Force veteran Eric J. Garcia titled "Operation Mom's Couch" opens Feb. 26.

A group of post-9/11 veterans have volunteered to help with a memorial to Vietnam War veterans.

Reporter Heather Cherone stopped by the Fox 32 Chicago studios to discuss the day's top stories.

The exhibit, Above and Beyond, will be unveiled Feb. 20 at the Harold Washington Library Center.

The museum will stay open until 8 p.m. Wednesday to mark Veterans Day and its third anniversary.

The sculpture festival included the Northwest Side for the second year in a row. 

The exhibit represents the museum's past, present and future, organizers said.
