The project on a long-vacant lot requires special permission from city officials.

Opponents said the 48-unit project was too dense, while supporters said it would help area businesses.

Cosmic Bikes opened at 4641 N. Milwaukee Ave. after high rents pushed them out of Wicker Park.

A proposal to build bicycle lanes along Austin Avenue failed to get enough votes, Ald. John Arena said.

Ballots can be cast through Friday at the ward office and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Park.

Roisin M. Dohl was unopposed in last month's election for Republican committeeman in the 45th Ward.

The sculptures on Milwaukee Avenue at Lawrence and Agatite avenues will be removed this month.
