The renovations to Taft were "long overdue," said Chicago Public Schools CEO Barbara Byrd Bennett.

A proposal to open up a  "high-end" wine and spirits shop in Norwood Park requires special permission.

Aldermen Mary O'Connor, Matt O'Shea and Marty Quinn said the policy "could be viewed as unfair."

Ald. Mary O'Connor (41st) said the move would put the safety of Edgebrook residents in "grave danger."

Parents at the Edgebrook school worked for years to convince city officials to build an annex.

The extra monitors will help city officials gather data about the new runway's effect on area residents.

Renovations have started at Roberts Square Park, Thuis Playlot and Grandparents Playlot.

A civic coalition said Rahm Emanuel needs to do more to stop the jet noise over the Northwest Side.
