Did you know the city will pay you to go green? It's true.

Chicago's Sustainable Backyards Program offers residents rebates of up to 50 percent toward the purchase of trees, native plants, rain barrels and compost bins. It might not be easy being green, but it can be affordable.

Learn what qualifies for the program and how to apply for a rebate at 6:30 p.m. April 2 at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
