Composting, rain barrels and rebates — oh my! The Sustainable Home Workshop is all about teaching people how to save the environment, while saving money, too.

Presented by the Center for Neighborhood Technology, the workshop will cover a number of topics: the use of native plants to manage storm water, simple upgrades to reduce energy loss and ways to reduce energy usage and costs while still maintaining a comfortable temperature.

The workshop is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 15, in the Horner Park Fieldhouse, 2741 W. Montrose Ave.

The event is sponsored by the 33rd Ward, the Northside Community Development Corporation, People's Gas and CNT.
