The Chatham Alliance and the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office will sponsor a free property and deed seminar at Crerar Presbyterian Church, 8100 S. Calumet Ave., for residents interested in learning about how people are abusing Illinois’ open land records system to steal properties and what property owners can do to protect themselves.
Residents will also be able to register for a free Property Fraud Alert system by the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office. The system sends an email or phone call anytime a document is recorded against their property.
