Time to think spring and getting your garden's soil into tip-top shape by learning how to compost at home.

Compost provides plants with a host of nutrients and you can make your own at home using kitchen scraps and a worm composting bin.

Peterson Garden Project's "Vermicomposting 101" will teach the basics of building and maintaining the compost bin, as well as how to harvest and use the compost.

Master Gardener Paul De Neui will lead the class, 2-3 p.m., Feb. 1, at PGP's Learning Center, 4642 N. Francisco Ave.

Registration is required; the cost of the class is $5. Come prepared to get your hands dirty.
