Buy a handmade bowl, fill up on soup and bread, and help raise money to end hunger.

Lillstreet Art Center's seventh annual Empty Bowls fundraiser supports the efforts of First Slice Pie Cafe, which serves more than 600 meals a week in partnership with StreetWise, The Crib, Broadway Youth Center and the Welcome Meal at Epiphany United Church of Christ.

During Friday's event, guests pay $25 for a handmade bowl — donated by local artists — that is then filled with soup. The more bowls filled, the more money raised for First Slice.

The evening will also include a silent auction of donated artist-crafted jewelry, textiles, prints, paintings and drawings, glass object and ceramics.

Empty Bowls is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Friday at Lillstreet Art Center, 4401 N. Ravenswood Ave.
