Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) welcomes members of the Cook County Sheriff's Central Warrant Unit to the neighborhood at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The new headquarters, housed in the former Wood Street Police Station at 937 N. Wood St., will not be open to the public. But the public is invited to tour the new building from 6:30-8 p.m. after a ribbon cutting by Moreno (6:15 p.m.) and a "roll call" of employees (6 p.m.).

In addition to tours of the new building, the family-friendly event will offer a demonstration by police dogs, refreshments and the opportunity for children to sit in squad cars.
