WEST PULLMAN — The Chicago Public Library is sponsoring a birthday celebration for the life of Carter G. Woodson at the Woodson Regional Library, 9525 S. Halsted St.

Guest speakers include Lionel Kimble, associate professor of History at Chicago State University and president of the Chicago Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, which was founded by the late Woodson. And Charles Branham, a senior historian at the DuSable Museum of African American History.

In addition, tours of the library and the Vivian Harsh Research Center on the first floor will be given all day beginning at 10 a.m.
