Every year, the entire North Park University campus considers a single theme. This year's theme is "What Is Peace?" and all of Chicago is invited to join the conversation.

Campus theme events kick off at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 with a public lecture from author Aleksandar Hemon, a recipient of a MacArthur Foundation "genius grant" in 2004.

Hemon, a native of Sarajevo, was visiting the United States when war broke out in his home country. Unable to return, he witnessed the Bosnian War from afar, an experience he is expected to discuss while speaking at North Park.

Hemon's lecture will take place in the Anderson Chapel (see campus map).
