State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-12th) will host an information session on new health insurance exchanges on Oct. 17 at the Town Hall Police Station, 850 W. Addison St.

Feigenholtz and state health insurance marketplace officials will be on hand to help people enroll in the state's new exchanges. Residents were able to start enrolling at the beginning of this month.

Those interested in enrolling should come prepared with proof they are residents of Illinois, Feigenholtz spokesman Eric Carlson said. That could be a driver's license, a utility bill or, if homeless, proof of living at a shelter, Carlson said.

There will be a health care presentation at 6 p.m., but residents are free to stop by at any time between 6-8 p.m. to receive individual health care enrollment support, Carlson said — whether they are confused about the Affordable Care Act or simply have struggled to reach a customer service rep.
