Speeding Driver Runs Red Light And Hits Cab, Killing Both Drivers: Police

CHICAGO — Two men were killed in a crash involving a taxi on the Near North Side early Wednesday, police said.

At 3:18 a.m., a 40-year-old man driving a Hyundai Sonata was speeding when he went through a red light and rear-ended a cab in the 1000 block of North Clark Street, police said. The cars had both been traveling south on Clark at the time of the crash.

The driver of the cab, a man, was taken to Northwestern Hospital and was pronounced dead, according to police. The 40-year-old man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police were investigating the incident.
