
UPTOWN — Some of the biggest local stars in film, theater, visual arts, music, literature and dance will be honored at this year's annual Black Excellence Awards.
From 7-10 p.m. Oct. 30, the awards ceremony by the African American Arts Alliance of Chicago will be held at the Black Ensemble Theater, 4450 N. Clark St.
The ceremony "celebrates the best and brightest of the black arts community in Chicago," according to a flyer for the event.
This year's lifetime achievement award will be given to longtime Chicago broadcaster Richard Steele, who spent 27 years at WBEZ.
General admission tickets are $40 and tickets for children under 12 are $20.
