BRIDGEPORT — Try out your skills as a lead singer at Jackalope Saturday, as the neighborhood coffee shop will celebrate five years in business with a block party including a live karaoke band.

To celebrate its fifth year anniversary, Jackalope Coffee & Tea House, 755 W. 32nd St., will host a block party Saturday. There will be live music plus vendors selling arts and crafts, records, jewelry and vintage items.

There will be plenty of music offerings if singing in front of a crowd isn't your thing. A DJ will play emo, pop punk and "bounce house" from 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m. School of Rock will play at 3:30 p.m., followed by Lume at 5:30 p.m. and the live karaoke band from 7-9 p.m.

For kids, there will be face painting and balloon animals. An astrologist will also be at the event, according to a flier.

After opening in 2012, Jackalope has become a neighborhood fixture as the only coffee shop east of Halsted Street. The business routinely holds block parties and art fairs in its cul-de-sac block, and has held similar celebrations for its anniversaries, including hosting a screening of "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" for its third year in business celebration and a doggie food truck for its second birthday bash.

Saturday's event will begin at 11 a.m. and music will wrap up by 9 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
