CHATHAM — A new Chipotle will open on 87th Street Thursday.
It will be open near the Jewel-Osco at 41 W. 87th St. from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily.
Chipotle officials said the location has brought on 28 new hires from the community and nearby.
"In addition to providing better access to food made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, Chipotle has filled the team with talented and passionate Chatham residents," officials said in a statement.
Marketing strategist manager Candace Doby said the company is on a mission to make food with unprocessed ingredients accessible to everyone.
"With the opening of the Chatham restaurant, we're creating easier access in Chatham to food options made with real ingredients — like real cheese, real jalapeños — all things you can find at your local grocery store," Doby said. "We’re really excited about that."
Chipotle also believes in giving back to the community, which is why it partners with local nonprofits for fundraisers, Doby said. The chain donates half of all fundraiser proceeds to the community, she said.
Organizations interested in partnering with Chipotle to host a restaurant fundraiser should visit Chipotle's website.
The chain has about 40 restaurants in Chicago and more in the suburbs.
"As one of the nation’s fastest growing restaurant companies, Chipotle currently employs more than 60,000 people, and entry-level crew positions can put employees on the path to developing rewarding careers," the company said.
