By Kelly Bauer | October 10, 2017 8:07am

CHICAGO — A man fleeing police ended up crashing a car and then holding people at knifepoint in Homan Square on Monday night, police said.

At 10:39 p.m., officers tried to pull over the man because he was driving a car with no headlights, police said. The man drove off, lost control of the car and crashed into another car in the 1300 block of South Independence Boulevard, according to police.

The man got out of his car and ran off. He got into a home in the 3600 block of West Grenshaw Street and held people inside the home at knifepoint, police said.

There was a struggle inside the home, and the man ended up running away through the back of the house, police said.

Officers caught the man, 29, and took him into custody. Drugs were found inside the car he had been driving, police said.

Charges were pending.
